The Flyers finished off their season on St. Patricks Day, Friday, March 17, 2023. Five people competed in the State Meet. Unfortunately, no one was able to break finals and place, but they finished off a great season. They don't lose any seniors this year and will have a full team returning next year.
Franklin got to host the D1 District 4 meet. They came in second at the meet and qualified 5 events for the state competition. Madison H. in Program of Oral Interpretation, Evan in Serious Prose and Entertainment Speaking , Eldon in Extemporaneous Speaking , and Trace in Informative Speaking.
The Flyers Speech Team displayed all of their speeches for the community on February 28, 2023. They Each performed all of their events excluding Extemporaneous Speaking.
On February 25, 2023, the Franklin Flyers Speech Team traveled to Holdrege. They finished 3rd overall. Minden won and Holdrege was second. They brought home 13 medals that day. This is the last regular meet of the speech season as they head into districts.
On February 22, 2023, the Franklin Flyers Speech team went to Deshler to compete in the Twin Valley Conference Meet. They were the defending champion after their victory at the conference meet in 2022. This year they returned with a nearly full team and had the max amount of people in all events excluding duet acting and poetry. They came home with four championship placings. Evan was the TVC champion for Serious Prose, Trace was the champion in Extemporaneous and Informative speaking, and Group 2 (Justin, Allison, Elizabeth C., and Evan) was the champion in the Oral Interpretation of Drama. All members medaled at the competition. They took the victory by a landslide with their final score being 261. Second place went to Kenesaw with 152 points. Third was Shelton with 120 points. Other teams competing consisted of Silver Lake, Blue Hill, South Central, Red Cloud, and Deshler.
On February 18, 2023, the Franklin Flyers Speech Team competed at Sutton. nine people competed on the varsity team. Madison H. placed 4th in her Program of Oral Interpretation.
Four Flyer participants went to the Aurora meet on Saturday, February 4, 2023. Justin placed 10th in Novice Persuasive. Two people competed in novice, and two competed in the varsity division.
The Flyers speech team competed in the second Central Nebraska Forensics League invitational on January 28, 2023. Four members competed in the novice division and four competed in the varsity division.
The Flyers Speech team went to their second meet at Thayer Central. Four members competed on the Varsity team and one competed on the Novice team. Trace placed 10th in Varsity Informative. Madison H. placed 4th in the Varsity Program of Oral Interpretation. Justin placed 3rd in Novice Persuasive. Evan placed 9th in Varsity Serious.
The Franklin Flyers Speech team competed in their first Central Nebraska Forensics League meet in Grand Island. Five members competed in the Varsity Division and one member competed in the Novice Division. Justin placed 8th in the Novice Persuasive event.
